To all my good manufacturing friends,
Please calm down.
Here's the way things work:
manufacturing is a safety call.
Different sites offer different possibilities.
Above all, we take safety very seriously. Not only is my ass on the line as safety chiarman, but, as a corporate officer and director, its my money they'll come after when the use up the insurance, not yours!
So, here's the deal as I see it.
John has championed manufacturing and been a pain in my ass on this for years. He wants everyone to be able to manufacture anything they want to do.
But, he is also our regulatory guy and he has been in discusssions with Gary Hanson, who was asked to evaluate things.
By the way, Gary was asked anonymously. Don't take this the wrong way, but, if you're copncerned enough to ask gary, you should join the discussion openly and talk with me and the Board.
Now, John and gary have come to certain conclusions.
Two in fact.
One- only when we expanded manufacturing did many of the safety issues come up- big devices, large quantities. They have to be given their own area.
Two- PGI does allow families and their minor children to make fireworks. It's legal, insured, approved by AHJ's and part of our mission.
But, no one wants a kid smacking a BP rocket next to folks making a dozen ten inch shells.
So, we keep both and separate them.
John asked me to attend the September Mason City planning meeting and I am going to go.
Here's what I want you all to do.
Neither John nor I are going to jump into the discussion list.
Ned is stepping down as mfg chairman.
Dan Creagan is taking that spot.
I want my good friend, Jimmy Widmann to send me summaries of all the good ideas you folks come up with on this list. Then as safety chair I will get all of you what each of you need.
As my regulatory guy, John will evaluate our plans and keep them legal and insured.
Tom Sklebar is going to be there too and as my right hand 1vp and infrastructure guy, the two of us, with John looking over our shoulders and the good advice and inpout you all provide, we are going to work this out.
But, we have to keep the big stuff and the little kids separate.
We have to make sure that all parts of our PGI community get what they need- SAFELY, or at least as safely as a noncommercial place can be.
John is dedicated to this.
I am dedicated to this.
It's going to happen, but, it's a safety decision as to HOW we do it.
Thanks.
Bill
